The launch of the Peugeot 207 GTi is heralded by the GT version, using a 150bhp turbocharged 1.6-litre engine and taking aim at cars like the Ford Fiesta ST. The engine is a joint development with BMW, and a more powerful version is to be found in the new Mini Cooper S and the 2007 Peugeot 207 GTi. It's easy to drive quickly, offers high comfort levels, and may be cheaper to run than you'd think for a high-performance hatchback. Unlike hot hatchbacks of old the 207 GT has few rough edges, but still manages to deliver most of the thrills buyers in this market are looking for.
